We have built ourselves into the space -
Amber and Esther have done a stellar job of taking the assignment and running with it - I am so appreciative and very excited about their work.
Alexx and Ann's film is beautiful on the wall and Janusz's black and white camera work is a terrific complement to the urban color of A&A's.
Threading through all of it is work by Jessica Edkins - moving the audience (that's you) from place to place in the space with the lovely Nic gently leading you to the next tidbit of dancing...
A funny little fact: Stairs seem to be very important in this evening of work.....we got a laugh about that tonight when it was realized - but it is actually interesting.
Keep wishing us luck - with one or two bumps along the way, we seem to be in a good place for opening the show tomorrow night!

Closer......
We are heading into tech rehearsal tomorrow - many thanks go out to the fabulous choreographers and designers for sitting through a long meeting last Tuesday so we can build the show order into a cohesive whole.
And
I think we have done it - I am extremely excited to see the entire show during tech on Monday, and then to see it as a full evening during the dress run at 8:15.
The revelation has occurred to me that I have wanted Women in Motion to be this site specific, this edgy for a very long time -
I am blessed by the universe to have the space and the peers to join me in this adventure!

Costumes....
Our costume designer is now in touch with the choreographers (I hope!) - that is a brand new tidbit of excitement for Women in Motion -
Last year we commissioned works, but did not get a dedicated costume vision.

Step One
The choreographers have been selected and invited to begin their process in the space.
Amber and Esther have played in the space already last week - I look forward to more -
We have a meeting on Thursday to discuss details, and I hope ideas begin to churn with vigor.
Our space is a strange, long room, with movable walls and lots of nooks and crannies...
Thus the idea for In(stance) - what can be seen in a moment? what do we hide? what is public and what is private and how do they co-exist?
these are the questions we have tossed out into the universe and over a 6 week period of exploration in the space and in their own words and thoughts between collaborators, we will all be lucky enough to find out!
